I had the opportunity to play golf with Herb for a long weekend in Myrtle Beach NC many years ago. Jim Sanders and I had arranged this gathering, so us three plus a fourth golfer set to play a few courses for the weekend. Well, one of the nights we all ended up at the fine dining restaurant of Hooters in Myrtle Beach. After a load of chicken wings and suds, Herb was ready to go back to the motel to bed down for the next day of golf. Our fourth golfer was no where to be found…. Herb was furious so he called a cab and we loaded up without our fourth golfer and listened to Herb cussing him out all the way back to the motel. Jim always had a great story for me when it came to his father-in-law and it usually set us to a good belly laugh.
God bless the Redding/Sanders family and your Iowa friends are thinking of you deeply in this time of remembrance and sorrow. Keep all those great memories close to the heart and remember the number of people Herb touched in some way over his life.
